There are a lot of challenges we face throughout our college years. Whether it be being away from friends or family, staying up late, or keeping organized, the struggles are nonetheless there. So, to make things stress free, here is my guide to small closet organization for the gentlemen and the ladies.

Welcome to My Closet!

Let’s take a closer look.

The left side of my closet is where I keep my nicer clothes and the ones I wear most often.

Tip 1: Use felt hangers, the same color and size.

Why? It keeps clothes from falling off and creates a cleaner and more organized view.

Tip 2: Keep clothes color coordinated within sleeve length sections.

Tip 3: Colored sections should pick up from where you left off in the previous section.

Tip 4: Donate, donate, donate! Do CONSTANT clothing cleanses. Selling is a great option, I do both on a monthly basis! Remember: More is less.

Below Image: My Short Sleeves. Ranging from darks to lights to color.

Image: Next comes the long sleeves. So far it was tanks to tees to long sleeves. This section mainly include shirts with collars (because that is what I mainly wear, haha). Keep Tip 3 in mind!

Image: This is the dress section. I combined all three levels of organization compressed into one section. This means tanks → long sleeves. Whites → stripes → colors.

Last section belongs to my bottoms that will get wrinkled if they are not hung up. Further to the end are clothes that I probably will never wear, but have some sort of urge to keep.

Left side of the closet is done! Now time for the right side… the not so glamorous side.

Tip 1: Keep your go to grabs at an accessible height. This way, you won’t have to reach and search for clothes.

Tip 2: If your closet space is tight like mine, place clothes you wear more often in the front. Again, no reaching and searching necessary, everything is right there!

Tip 3: Store away clothes that are not in season. You won’t be wearing them, so out of sight is the best option.

Tip 4: Shoes that you do not usually wear can be stored in your closet. Invest in a small shoe rack to put at your door so you won’t have to walk through the house with your outdoor shoes on.

This is the section for bottoms. On the left are my skirts and shorts. The right side are for my pants and trousers.

The front half are the ones I wear routinely, the back half are things I would not typically wear on a daily basis.

Next, is my lounge wear. On the left are my gym clothes and on the right are my lounge tees. Behind is where I keep part of my clothing storage. Again, clothing pieces that I will usually reach for can be found in the front.

Last but not least, my shoes and storage. The shoes that I’ve chosen to keep in my closet are my Jack Roger sandals that are too small to keep on my shoe rack. I’ve also placed some of my loafers that I don’t wear as often. I also threw in my running sneakers because I have other gym sneakers that I wear more regularly. Lastly, my boots because well, it’ summer now and too hot in Arizona for boots.

Below my shoes is a laundry basket with my fall and winter clothes. I am originally from Massachusetts and I dropped off the majority of my winter clothes their during break. These are the just my stragglers!

We’ve finally made it to the end!

Thanks for reading and I hope this gave you some inspiration to tackle your closet. Much luck! xx
