The Farmer's Market

The farmer's market at the St. Philip's Plaza in Tucson, Arizona, comes around every weekend. It is filled with local artisans, florists, vegan, vegetarian, and carnivorous lovers, juicers, and musicians. Not to mention the loads of insanely cute dogs!

On this particular Saturday, Nicole and I, started our morning with the most positive energy. It was farmer's market day! With our matching levi's on, we explored the local stands and taste tested one too many things. Acoustic music filled the surrounding, the sun was shining but not too hot, and the atmosphere COULD NOT have been more perfect. After the most stressful of weeks, smiling faces, good food, music, company, and cute dogs was enough to undo the stressful school week.

Outfit 1: Nicole

The mastermind behind all of the blog photos, was finally in front of the camera this time. With the quintessential farmer's market outfit on, Nicole matched her thrifted Levi's with a fiery red top. We had been on the hunt for the PERFECT pair of Levi's, and to our surprise, they were at a Tucson Goodwill for only $5. If you are deciding on a reasonable pair of denim to invest in, a pair of Levi's will do the trick. They are timeless, and have a classic fit with undeniable quality. Before spending the $98 on a brand new pair, if you have the time and patience, check multiple thrift stores.

Nicole paired her black denim with a pop of red. The tie in the front and ruffled hem lines create an effortless and girly look. Red is a bold color that is a huge trend this season. It sets a statement by itself, so there is no need to go overboard with other accessories. To complete the farmer's market look, Nicole accessorized with a dainty gold necklace and a pair of black slides.

Before I head out on my shopping excursions, I have a set, yet general, idea of what I want to get. As of lately, I have been transitioning my closet into fewer and more quality pieces. So, I was on the hunt for a lightweight white shirt that could be worn well throughout the year. I stumbled upon this ruffled hem and extremely dainty white top from Club Monaco. The silhouette is very flattering and is also the perfect alternative to the basic white tee.

A quick tip to college students who want to look casual and effortless while still presenting a put together persona: pair a simple blouse with a tailored pair of pants. It is the EASIEST outfit combination that can replace your leggings and oversized t-shirts. Trust me, it is just as comfortable. Slowly replace a couple lounge tee's with blouses that are either simple or have fun colors or minimalistic designs. Then, front or full tuck them into a pair of high waisted denim or a tailored and appropriate length short.
