LookBook Series: Transitioning into Fall

Forcing Fall weather is the only way to accept the season when it remains 90 degrees outside. However, with persistence, Clo and I created four fall looks that can still be worn in Tucson. We then took to Sparkroot and Cartel to drink lattes and talk important business and fashion.
Outfit 1: Claudia
For this look, I decided to go the casual route. The reason why I decided to showcase this simplistic look is because it’s an easy and fun stepping stone for those who are unsure of how to properly dress for the season, while also making it applicable to a warm weather state. I grew up in a state with four seasons, so imagine my confusion when October rolled around and it was still 90 degrees out. A couple of years have passed and I now have my Arizona fall wardrobe down. Although I have my wardrobe down to a T, the struggle to find fall outfits that accommodate the weather is still a hard task for some.

Ultimately, the difficulties that come with transitioning from four seasons to one season is why I wanted to give my two cents about what clothing items one must have in their closet. The first look consists of a denim dress that I paired with a pair of suede slip-on shoes. This look falls along the lines of a simplistic look because it only consists of two main clothing items. Denim is a classic fabric; this look will forever be in style. So, having a denim dress on-deck is a basic necessity that goes with any season. As for the shoes, these are my new obsession. This simple delicate detail, the suede fabric on the shoes, helps to bring this look to the next level. The light grey falls under the fall color scheme without being too dark and too harsh.
As for my accessories, I once again, kept the look simple. I feel as though I am a walking contradiction. I love accessories since there’s a plethora of items that are available and can help to make an outfit or emphasise specific elements of an outfit. I love the power they hold, but at the same, I also love wearing the same pieces. For this shoot, for example, I am wearing my two gold bracelets that were given to me from my grandmothers, my ‘Be Still’ rose-gold bracelet that I received from my best friend, and my three go-to rings. Depending on my mood, the accessories may be simple or bold. With fall, I believe this seasonal look should be cozy and easy to throw-on.

My favorite thing about cooler weather is the fact that I am able to wear all of my printed pants. The quintessential formulation for a pre-fall outfit would be a staple trouser and a simple blouse. This goes a long way especially when you layer and accessorize. For the transitional stages of fall, play with spring and winter colors. Meaning, pair your darker neutrals with a crisp white or a baby pink. Finish off with a camo jacket or a blazer and you're set to battle the pre-fall season.

Moving onto my next look, I once again, choose a dress. The two biggest differences that separates this dress from my last look is the color and detail. Going along with the fall color palette, I chose a beautiful burnt orange. If anyone knows me, they know that I despise orange. Although I hate this color with a passion, it reminds me of leaves changing. For this very reason, I was persuaded into buying this dress. Yet another example of how I am a walking contradiction. This dress not only screams fall, but it’s also extremely comfortable and is intricate in a subtle way. The front of the dress contains a delicate crochet pattern that provides the option to either wear a necklace with the dress or to leave it be. The attention to detail that is found in the stitches of this dress again follows my fall look check-list: a seasonally colored cozy and easy throw-on dress.
Outfit 4: Cristina
Another pre-fall staple are accessories and in my case, the baker boy hat. This hat is one of the most versatile pieces in my closet. By no means is this an exaggeration, but it goes with every outfit that I wear. It is also perfect for those days that you're not having the best hair day. The second staple is again, a pair of trousers. This season, the powerful business woman look is appearing everywhere. These trousers expand your professional persona outside of the academic boundaries.
